Short Version - Walk her morning and early evening
- Feed her half a cup of food after you walk her
- Give her a treat if you're leaving without her
- She likes crunchy veggies and apple cores, any most food.
- We don't let her in the kitchen or in bed
- She's allowed on the furniture when she's invited
- She sleeps burrowed under the blanket in her bed.
Schedule - she wakes up about 8:00
- feed and walk her by 9 AM if possible
- she likes being lazy all day
- feed her again between 4 and 6
- walk her sometime after 5 (before or after eating - doesn't matter)
- she usually gets in bed on her own around 9 or 10
feeding - She eats 1 cup a day - 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night
- she wolfs her food down and always seems hungry- she's fine
- she does like to nibble on grass even when she's not hungry
- fill her water bowl when you feed her
treats - We usually only give her treats when we have to lock her up
- She loves fresh veggies, esp. crunchy stuff like carrots and brocolli stems, just don't feed her directly from the table or the kitchen
- She also likes ice cubes
walking - we usually walk her around the church since there's grass
- biodegradable doggie bags are in the table by the door
- She usually goes twice a day, but can hold #2 all day sometimes
- she'll go within 10 minutes
- she doesn't really come when called. avoid letting her off leash
longer walks - up everett, left on 25th, across burnside to stairs up to washington park
- down 17th, 20th, or 22nd is quieter and nicer than 18th, 19th, 21s/23rd
- there is a dog park on 19th and glisan, but it is best to avoid it since she might not come to you if she's off leash
driving - she's pretty well behaved in the car
- she'll stay in the back seat if you put her there
- have a bottle of water and a bowl
- she also likes to have her black fleece blanket
- don't leave her alone in the car unless the windows are cracked in the shade
- park in a remote corner of the parking lot and she'll be quiet
- she falls asleep pretty fast if she's been walking/hiking
leaving her home - close the bedroom door
- close the gate
- she CAN jump over the gate, but she doesn't know it, so it works well enough.
- leave the red kong in there with her
- it helps to distract her (with food) while you leave
- leave while she's eating breakfast/dinner
- give her a treat but not more than 1 or 2 a day
